# Creating formulas

Formulas help you define how your variables behave by performing calculations automatically. Whether it's a simple sum or a complex financial formula, here’s how to create them:

### **How to Create a Formula**

1. **Select a cell**: Click on the cell (ideally the formula cell) where you want to add a formula.
2. **Open the Formula Cell**: You’ll see the formula editor expanded on the model.
3. **Type Your Formula**: Use standard operators and functions (+, -, \*, /) or choose from built-in financial and statistical functions.

* Example: Revenue = Price \* Quantity
* For summing a range: =SUM(Revenue, Expenses, Taxes)

4. **Press Enter**: Your formula is applied instantly to the variable.
